Driven by diverse musical backgrounds, Kostas Maginas uses modular synthesizers to move freely and unapologetically between genres like techno, funk, trip hop, ambient and generative music, composing live soundscapes rich in timbres, dynamics, and contrasts.

KOSTAS MAGINAS (Modular Synthesizer)

Guitarist and composer. He studied guitar at the National Conservatory of Athens and the Northern Greece Conservatory and continued his studies on a scholarship at Berklee College of Music. He has toured in Greece and abroad with his own bands and alongside musicians such as Lee Konitz, Dick Griffin, Mark Turner, Trilok Gurtu, Rick Margitza, David Schnitter, Craig Bailey, Sam Newsome, Rob Dixon, Roberto Gatto, Rosario Giuliani, Marc Abrams, Alex Foster, Danilo Rea, Larry Vuckovic, Stjepko Gut, Keith Copeland, Steve McCraven, Jacubu Griffin, Benjamin Henocq, Olivier Gatto, Milcho Leviev, Nicolas Simion, and others. He has collaborated and performed live music for dance groups, composed music for Greek television documentaries, and for theatrical performances by Stathis Livathinos, Vasilis Mavrogeorgiou, Aris Troupakis, and others. He served as the artistic director of the Thessaloniki Jazz Festival for two years. He is the head of the jazz department at the Contemporary Conservatory of Thessaloniki.
